Introduction
As the sun set, a different kind of darkness fell upon Field of Screams, a place where the line between fear and fun literally blurs into one terrifying night. Seriously, the energy was insane the second as I stepped onto the grounds! The air was buzzing with live music and those distant, high pitched screams it was the perfect mix of high energy fun and building dread. The cool themed entrance and all those photos immediately set the tone, turning a normal Saturday night into a journey into a total nightmare. My heart was pumping with a mix of anticipation and genuine fear, which is exactly why I came. It was a night of pure terror and adrenaline, and I was absolutely ready to “pay to get in and pray to get out.”
The Haunted Hayride

The Haunted Hayride takes guests on a super scary journey through the dark cornfields and woods. My experience on the wagon was a total sensory overload, especially because they added the new abandoned gas station scene this year. The gross smell of gasoline fills the air, which makes the whole thing even creepier. The crazy, post apocalyptic people at the gas station lunge at the wagon, making you feel completely surrounded and trapped with absolutely no way to escape their horrifying moves. The whole ride is designed to leave you feeling completely vulnerable, and it totally worked.
The Frightmare Asylum

Inside the Frightmare Asylum, the high intensity scares and amazing special effects are everywhere. The asylum is a chaotic, crazy maze of terror, where a new level of horror is waiting. The brain therapy patients, with their super unsettling shaking movements and desperate, pleading cries, leave you completely stunned. The detailed, confusing scenes and gross special effects create a truly immersive experience that blurs the line between reality and a actual nightmare, which is the best part.
Nocturnal Wasteland

Walking through the Nocturnal Wasteland is like a journey into a haunted forest where you’re hunted by demented human like creatures. The path is narrow and winding, making you feel totally isolated. A truly heart pounding moment is when you pass by the rickety old school bus that is dangling high above the hayride path. It’s a chilling reminder of the dangers that lurk above. The creatures actually seem to hunt you down as you go deeper into their woods, making you feel exactly like a piece of prey awesome right.

The Den of Darkness
The Den of Darkness, set inside an old barn from the 1800s, uses its history to build suspense. Inside, a complete and total darkness hits you, forcing you to rely only on your other senses. Every sound, smell, and feeling is heightened, which makes the terror so much worse. The brand new Study scene, with its mysterious items and unnerving posters of missing people, adds a super psychological layer of fear that’s hard to shake. This scene is really effective and can leave you petrified with fear, as you’re left to imagine the fate of those who have disappeared.
The Entertainment Area: Beyond the Screams
Beyond the main attractions, Field of Screams has a lively entertainment area that serves as a perfect escape from the terror. The carnival style games, like the football throw and the bottle break, are a fun and low stress way to challenge your friends and win prizes. The axe throwing lanes provide a unique and satisfying activity that can seriously help you blow off steam after being chased by monsters. Trying these activities provides a much needed break from the heart pounding scares and lets you enjoy the fun, social side of the night. The overall atmosphere of the entertainment area is exciting and unique. Live bands play on the main stage, adding a vibrant energy to the night. The area is lit up with cool lights and features a “projection show spectacular” on big screens, which helps to build the anticipation before you head to the next attraction. These elements create a lively, carnival like vibe that complements the horror of the haunted attractions and makes sure your night is full of action, even when you’re just waiting in line so there’s no way you will be bored; it gets you excited.
Conclusion
My favorite moments from the night were definitely the surprise scares in the Frightmare Asylum and the super disorienting, dark atmosphere of The Den of Darkness. The Haunted Hayride was a great way to start the night, and Nocturnal Wasteland kept me on my toes with its creepy, immersive forest setting. The variety of attractions ensures that there’s something to make everyone scream. After experiencing all that Field of Screams has to offer, I can confidently say that it lives up to its motto, “Pay to Get In… Pray to Get Out.” The attention to detail, the talented actors, and the truly unique scares make it an experience worth all the hype. If you are looking for a night of thrilling fun that will leave you with a few lasting chills, this is the place to be: Pay to Get In, Pray to Get Out.
Review
I am writing this to express how much I appreciate the incredible experience I had at Field of Screams. As a first time visitor, I was immediately struck by the crazy energy and immersive atmosphere that starts the moment you step onto the grounds. The live music, vibrant lights, and expertly themed entrance set the tone for a truly unforgettable night.
The four main attractions each provided a unique and genuinely terrifying experience. The Haunted Hayride was a high intensity sensory overload, particularly with the new abandoned gas station scene and the crazy attendants that made me feel completely surrounded. Inside the Frightmare Asylum, the great special effects and the unsettling movements of the brain therapy patients left me totally stunned.
The Nocturnal Wasteland was so good at mind games, making me feel like prey as I navigated the winding paths of the haunted forest. A truly heart pounding moment was seeing the rickety old school bus dangling above the path. The Den of Darkness, with its authentic old barn setting, was a sensory depriving experience that heightened every sound and feeling, especially with the unnerving “Study” scene.
Beyond the haunts, the lively entertainment area provided a perfect balance to the terror. The carnival style games and other activities are a fantastic addition that allows guests to have fun and decompress between scares.
I did want to offer a small piece of constructive feedback. The dark and immersive atmosphere that makes the attractions so effective was occasionally broken by a few guests using flashlights. On the Haunted Hayride, a large group with flashlights and loud talking totally messed up the experience. Similarly, inside the haunted house, people turning on their phone lights while crawling through the dark tunnel ruined the effect. Enforcing a strict “no phone” rule during the attractions could help maintain the high quality experience for all visitors.
After experiencing all that Field of Screams has to offer, I can confidently say that the attraction lives up to its famous motto, “Pay to Get In… Pray to Get Out.” The attention to detail, the talented actors, and the unique scares make it an experience worth all the hype. Thank you for creating such a thrilling and memorable event.
