Even six months after the release of, “Spiderman: Across the Spider-verse,” there is still plenty of talk of the rage-inducing cliffhanger and beautiful art of the film. This blockbuster hit theaters on June 2, 2023, being the sequel to “Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse,” and immediately giving the audience whiplash with the “To be continued…” screen.
The third movie was soon confirmed to release on March 29, 2024, though the date was pushed back with SAG-AFTRA strikes. The new release date has not yet been announced, but producer Christopher Miller provided updates for the anxious viewers. The update given by him comes through a clip, from Jonathan Sim, taken during the Q&A after a special FYC screening of “Across the Spider-Verse” in New York City.
Miller reassured the audience that production was progressing and commented, “We’re in production on it… We’re really excited about where the story is going, and I think it’s a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. And it’s somehow even… as emotional as the other ones… We’re knee-deep in it, and here we go again.” With that, he leaves viewers to overthink such information and fear the emotional damage they may be subject to while in the theater, though what is Marvel if not willing emotional torture?
Miller confirmed that this will be the conclusion to Mile Morales’ story. Though luckily he did leave the audience with a reassuring comment about the film having a “very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.” Which already puts many at ease knowing they will leave the theater content.
With that small update on the film, the release date seems to be predicted by 2025 though it has yet to be confirmed. This gives viewers plenty of time to rewatch the previous movies for clues and answers! Which there will be many, considering how many clues are in the first movie about the sequel, and considering that this is Marvel.
