Deftones, also known as the “RadioHead Of Metal,” is an alternative band that was created in America in Sacramento, California in 1988. The band consists of the following members: Chino Morneo, the lead singer, Abe Cunningham, Stephen Carpenter, Sergio Vega, and Frank Delgado.
They met in school with a common interest in skateboarding. They were kicked out of school for drug abuse so they never got to finish high school. When Stephen was 15 years old, he was hit by a car while skateboarding. He was in a wheelchair for a few months while he recovered.
During his recovery, he taught himself to play the guitar. One of his friends, Chino, found out he could play guitar. They got together with Abe Cunningham, who knew how to play the drums and started playing music together. This led to the formation of their band.
Their biggest hit is called, “Change (In The House Of Flies)” from the album, “White Pony” which came out in the 2000s. The Deftones is best known for, and described as “rock/art metal” and “alternative metal.” They are also known as one of the most experimental rock bands in the alternative metal and rock music genres.
Over the years, the Deftones have become very popular. They are still very popular with Gen Z kids, teenagers, and adults.
As a teenager (Gen Z), I enjoy this music because I frequently listen to music in the genre, and I find it appealing because of the songs and the messages behind their songs. I discovered Detones in 2019-2020 by one of my family relatives, and ever since then, I’ve been listening to them constantly. To me, this band is interesting and I can relate to them because when they formed the band, they found one another through skateboarding, and I, myself, skateboard.
