Michigan Fires Sherrone Moore; Former Coach Arrested Hours Later for Alleged Break-in
On December 10th, Former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is behind bars. Moore, who just came off a 9-3 season with the Wolverines and is preparing for their bowl game against Texas, was arrested for an alleged assault.
Moore was fired from the University of Michigan abruptly on Wednesday. Moore allegedly had a relationship with a staff member at the University, and Michigan has a zero-tolerance policy on inner staff relationships. Moore was fired with cause by the University, meaning the University will not have to pay him his buyout after being fired.
Moore, who is married and has three children, allegedly broke into the home of his executive assistant, Paige Shiver, with a knife in hand. When the cops were dispatched to the location, they say Moore was suicidal. “The incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community,” the statement from the Pittsfield police department read from Yahoo Sports.
Reports coming out of Michigan say he has not been acting himself recently. “There had been a lot of uneasiness on the Michigan staff, sources had told me Sherrone Moore had been acting strange, berating assistant coaches, not acting in a normal way,” Thamel said Wednesday on “SportsCenter” after Michigan brought down the ax. Biff Poggi will take over as Michigan’s Interim head coach, and the search for the new coach of Michigan begins now.
